I'm trying something risky here. I'm anonymously posting my experience working at a case manager. I will be filtering information as to my exact location is unknown and I will not give out confidential information if asked. That being said, here is my post from my first day at working at a prison and will be updating daily:
I am now a case manager at one of the largest prisons in the state. I've decided to keep a day by day journal of my going ons.
First lesson to learn: make security guards your friends. Otherwise you will be standing waiting for doors to open for 15 minutes per door. 8 doors to my office. Note to self, NEVER ever forget your keys...again!
Inmates think that they can hoot and holler at you. Especially if they are in a pack. But once they are one on one, they are uber respectful.
I spent most of the day watching people do their job, trying to understand things I don't know. This is going to be the largest learning curve I've ever had in a job. So technical, but don't worry, I will make sure that there are no early releases from prison :)
